Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.

Roanoke is in Virginia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Roanoke follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Roanoke Country Club is an amazing 27 hole private club and is among the best golf courses I’ve played in southwest Virginia. The course was designed by renowned architect A.W. Tillinghast and features significant elevation changes, wide forgiving fairways, and fast undulating greens. The conditions of the course were immaculate and the grounds crew does a great job of keeping the course in good condition. The staff were amazing and are among the best I’ve ever encountered playing a private club and made playing here an enjoyable and memorable experience.

There for a work event. Lovely place. The service was great, food was delicious, Christmas decor was so pretty, bathrooms were clean, parking was easy. Definitely hope to attend another event there sometime.

I can’t speak highly enough of RCC. From the greens, to the staff, everything is amazing! I spend most of my time on the course, so I’ve had plenty of time to get to know Tim, Ryan, and John. They have been very welcoming, and professional. I recently was fit for new irons by John and he did an amazing job. The staff in the dining rooms, and other facilities have also been fantastic. If you are looking for a great place to enjoy some time away from the office, or a place for your family to enjoy then RCC is your destination!!
